YES!
Good news! - I was right, we do have cavity walls, and they are suitable for insulation. So we are having proper cavity wall insulation put in before it gets really cold, along with some more roof insulation to stop all the lovely heat from our new gas central heating boiler escaping straight out again!
Unfortunately it just isn’t affordable for us to have a wood burning stove in the sitting room as the flue lining has failed and it would cost more than we can afford to have a steel liner fitted as we have such tall chimneys. We would also have to buy a really expensive stove as we are in a smokeless zone. So I am having to get an electric heater, even though I hate the things!
Here’s hoping we will hardly ever have to use it once we have the walls insulated!
